Short story

Once there was a man who went out looking for a friend, someone who he could talk to in a sensible manner, someone who would understand what he had to say. He came across such a person and they talked about many things, and he found this person to be very agreeable. He desired to talk to his new friend some more, but the day had drawn on, so they arranged to meet again the next day.

The man and his friend met at the same place every day, and they always had something to talk about. They always discussed, but never argued. He felt that his friend was someone who knew his mind well.

One day the man did not feel well, but he did not like feeling grumpy and miserable, so he went to his friend. When he arrived he did not feel comforted; he found his friend to be unsympathetic and selfish. This upset the man greatly, after all, he had made an effort to see his friend today. He yelled at his friend, and his friend yelled back. His outburst hadn't made him feel any better, and his friend's only made him more aggrivated.

He struck at his friend, but his fist never found its target. Instead it shattered a mirror. The sharp glass shards fell and sundered his wrist, leaving him to bleed out on the floor. Then he realised, much too late, that he had seen himself all along.

After trying for about a month I have finally managed to put out a candle with a single punch, fist finishing about 10cm from the candle. It took a couple of seconds after the punch for me to register that the flame had gone out and that had been my goal.

1. Register a change in the candle (*punch* wait, what?)
2. Realise flame has gone out (omg wtf?)
3. ^_^

Now to do it from further away, don't know how long that will take to achieve.

I went to Supanova Brisbane 2007 on the weekend and enjoyed myself. It was my first time to Supanova and my first time cosplaying, but when my friend said I would probably get fangirls wanting to take my photo and hug me I didn't believe her. So what was the first thing that happened when I walked into the building? "Akabane!!!" *glomp* x_x

Anyway, here's a pic of my friend and I in our costumes.

Forgot to mention I'm dressed as Dr. Jackal from GetBackers and my friend is Inui from Prince of Tennis. ^_^

Last week was a bit hectic, for most of it I thought I had a huge programming assignment due on Thursday. Apparently I had misread the due date as 5/4/2007 when it was 4/5/2007 (d/m/y ^_^ ). Though now I'm way ahead of the class, even if I haven't finished it yet.

So now it's my birthday today. I (finally) got a mobile phone, but it's more for everyone else than it is for me. I just got sick of everyone else complaining about me not having a mobile phone.

problems on the thirteenth

Just the other day I received a letter in the mail from university informing me that I have been awarded the "Ergon Energy Prize":

"Ergon Energy Prize for the student who achieves the highest academic standard in First Level of the Bachelor of Engineering Degree."

This was certainly unexpected, (I didn't even know such an award existed) as I consider myself a bit lazy in regards to the amount of study I do. I am currently on a GPA of 6.13, (out of 7) but I often hear about some dedicated academics that have GPA's of 6.5 to 7. >_<

I do have a little bit of a problem though. The Annual Awards Presentation will be on the night of Friday 13 April, the same Friday that I would be going to Brisbane for Supanova. I was already starting to consider not going this year because I haven't been able to get a costume together (I know you don't have to, but I really wanted to). I still have plenty of time to consider what I'm going to do though.
